Description & Services
Description (Service) Provides services and support for Indigenous women who have experienced violence and for the families of missing and murdered women (MMIW); functions under the The Missing and Murdered Women Initiative 
  • Provides services based on the individual needs of families of MMIW, families and friends of homicide victims, and those who have experienced violence 
  • Provides support and guidance to victims and/or their families as they interact with the criminal justice system and/or recover from the trauma of the crime 
  • Aims to raise awareness of the criminal justice program and existing support services 
  • Works to educate the justice system and service providers on how to help Indigenous women and their families 
  • Offers public education, awareness and prevention initiatives about violence against Indigenous women, the issues related to murdered/missing women and their families, and the criminal justice system for victims/families
Services and supports for victims/families involved with the criminal justice system include: 
  • Assistance understanding the criminal justice process 
  • Support at meetings with police, courts and other service providers 
  • Support at court 
  • Crisis and emergency response due to violence/death 
  • Financial support for emergency expenses 
  • Support for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence such as accessing treatment for STIs/STDs, accessing women’s shelters and relevant ONWA programs 
  • Healing services including talking circles, cultural healing, Elder's guidance and referrals to other services
Hours Mon-Fri 9 am-12 noon, 1 pm-5 pm
