Description (Service) Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community 
  • Provides information, training and educational workshops to enhance employability skills 
  • Posts employment opportunities at office  
  • Works to access funding for band-owned business ventures  
  • Provides coaching in areas such as business plan development and assistance in obtaining financial support for people wanting to start own business 
  • Maintains local business directory  
  • Assists with the development of plans for the use of traditional lands for community members 
  • Belongs to the Greenstone Economic Development Corporation (GEDC)
Economic initiatives Rocky Bay First Nation is involved with include: 
  • Participation in the Land & Larger Land Base (LLLB) project for land designation and development 
  • Little Jackfish River Hydroelectric Project 
  • Rocky Bay Fisheries 
  • Wind Power Project; possible development and construction of a wind farm 
  • Tourism initiative that would provide guides for hunting and fishing excursions; has been tested with favorable results but awaiting approval 
  • Solar panel business initiated in 2012, currently in feasibility stages 
  • On-going development of community gravel pit 
  • Advisory capacity for existing community business ventures including saw mill, forestry, bear management, a tourist outpost camp and a local gas station 
  • Development of a community-owned Construction company which has already purchased several pieces of heavy equipment including an excavator and front-end loader
