  • Offers business, organizational and community development support 
  • Partners with communities to solve practical issues that are important to municipalities, First Nations and community organizations in Northern Ontario 
  • Conducts research at the local, regional, national and international levels that contributes to social and economic justice for Northern Ontario communities
Offers an array of services including the following:
Collaborative Services 
  • Socio-economic impact studies 
  • Program evaluations 
  • Market studies 
  • Issues related to the social economy including social entrepreneurship 
  • Community resiliency and sustainability issues including Agri-innovation and food security, transportation infrastructure and tourism development, and culture and creative economy
Community Development 
  • Strategic planning 
  • Community engagement
Mentoring/Developing Capacity 
  • Training of community-based researchers 
  • Internships, co-ops, and field placements for students
  • Workshops, seminars, and community forums 
  • Guest speakers 
  • Hosting conferences and think tanks
