Description (Service)
  • Identifies health hazards and takes appropriate action  
  • Ensures continued public health services are delivered during a health hazard event  
  • Responsible for the Community Emergency Response Plans  
  • Inspects group housing facilities  
  • Works together with day nurseries, hospitals, nursing homes and homes for the aged to ensure that infection control programs are in place  
  • Inspects boarding houses, migrant housing, and residential facilities for the aged and those requiring special care to ensure provision of safe food, safe drinking water and sanitary facilities 
  • Reduces the risk of human exposure to West Nile Virus 
  • Responsible for food safety, rabies prevention, and safe water programs
