Description (Agency) Provides information on what to do when encountering nuisance bears or other wildlife
Description (Service) Within city limits 
  • If individuals encounter a live or injured wild animal (moose, deer, bear) within the city limits and are concerned about safety, they should call 9-1-1 or their local emergency phone number and ask for the police 
  • If individuals encounter a dead wild animal (moose, deer, bear) within the city limits, they should contact their local police department
Outside city limits 
  • If individuals find a dead or injured animal (moose, deer, bear) on the highway, they will need to call the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in their area
Note: For nuisance bears that do not pose an immediate threat, call the Bear Reporting Line
