  • Co-ordinates and delivers provincial government economic development programs and services 
  • Fosters job creation and strengthens the economies of northern communities
Northern Ontario Indigenous Internship Program 
  • Provides internships to Indigenous individuals who are interested in launching and building their careers in Northern Ontario
Northern Ontario Skilled Labour Internship Program 
  • Provides internships to provide on-the-job career development and address skills shortages in areas such as the skilled trades and provides apprentices with the ability to attend required training throughout their placement
Strategic Economic Infrastructure Program 
  • Supports infrastructure projects that help create jobs in northern communities 
  • Provides financial assistance to help communities make investments necessary to improve infrastructure
Northern Community Capacity Building Program 
  • Seeks to promote, attract, and support economic growth in the existing and emerging economic sectors in Northern Ontario
Includes the following projects: 
  • Community Capacity Building Initiatives 
  • Event Partnerships
Northern Business Opportunity Program 
  • Encourages business productivity, expansion, and global investment in northern communities
Includes the following projects: 
  • Business Expansion Projects 
  • Film and Television Industry Projects 
  • New Investment Projects 
  • Small Business Start-up Projects
Northern Innovation Program 
  • Provides financial support to both private and public sectors to aid in the development of new technologies that will contribute to the economic growth of Northern Ontario 
  • Encourages collaboration and partnership among the private sector, academic institutions, and research institutes

  • Applied Research and Technology Development Projects 
  • Industrial Research Chairs 
  • Opportunity Assessment Projects 
  • Pilot Demonstrations and Commercialization Projects
