Description (Agency) Provides ongoing support for individuals with neuromuscular disorders and their families
Description (Service)
  • Provides ongoing support for individuals with neuromuscular disorders and their families 
  • Increases public awareness and educates communities about neuromuscular disorders 
  • Organizes and participates in fundraising activities 
  • Organizes social activities for members of the Chapter 
  • Provides a large variety of information 
  • Offers referrals to neuromuscular clinics, agencies and other community resources 
  • Works with other organizations to bring about policy changes at the provincial and federal level
Mobility Equipment Program 
  • Provides equipment, if something appropriate is available in stock 
  • Offers financial assistance towards the purchase of equipment if the item is not in stock 
  • Does not provide reimbursements
Mobility equipment includes the following: 
  • Bathing Items 
  • Lift Chairs 
  • Long Leg Braces/reciprocating gait 
  • Manual Wheelchair 
  • Orthopaedic Shoes 
  • Orthoses  
  • Orthoses/Orthopaedic Insoles 
  • Patient Lifts 
  • Power Scooter 
  • Power Wheelchair 
  • Ramps/Platform Lifts (primary access to the home only) 
  • Rollator/Walker 
  • Seating/Positioning device  
  • Specialized Beds / Mattresses 
  • Specialty Cushions 
  • Ventilators / Cough Assist
Peer Support 
  • Provides trained volunteers who support and mentor individuals with similar disorders 
  • Offers resources, tips on coping, and an understanding ear
Volunteer Opportunities 
  • Recruits volunteers for a variety of opportunities
Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Event Volunteers 
  • National Board and Committee Members 
  • Office Volunteers 
  • Peer Support
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Eligibility Individuals or their families with any kind of neuromuscular disorder
Mobility Equipment Program 
  • Must be registered with agency 
  • Must contain a vendor's quote and a prescription from a qualified health-care professional; prescription may be waived if the requested item is to replace an existing prescribed item
