Description (Service) Represents the community in all lands and related issues  
  • Oversees the Land Code, currently under development (Framework Agreement on FN Land Management signed in April 2018), which will give full responsibility to Rainy River First Nation (RRFN) for their own land management 
  • Liaises with all companies undertaking resource development in traditional RRFN territory including mining developments, forestry projects and hydro electric power projects  
  • Participates in negotiations and agreements with resource developers to ensure RRFN is fairly included in benefits  
  • Develops and implements a consultation protocol for negotiations related to Lands and Resources issues  
  • Advises community members on any Lands issues via meetings, website or correspondence  
  • Provides guidance in the development of Land Use Plans for the community  
  • Acts as a liaison between RRFN and the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) 
  • Participates in negotiations to purchase land to expand reserve and to enhance economic and business goals
