Description (Service) Acts as the lead in developing the community land code document which contains the basic land laws of the Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing 
  • Administered by a team which consists of a Land Management Coordinator and Land Code Committee who consult regularly with community members  
  • Land Code allows community to assert law-making power, control and protect the reserve land and resources, and to opt-out of the 34 land related sections in the Indian Act
Land Code includes the following:  
  • Amendments  
  • By-laws  
  • Conflict of interest rules  
  • Dispute resolution processes  
  • How new laws can be enacted and published  
  • Land management  
  • Revenue responsibility  
  • Who can make laws  
  • Zoning
