Description (Service) Responsible for stimulating local economy and developing economic initiatives and opportunities for the community and other First Nation communities 
  • Provides engineering, consulting and proposal development services 
  • Provides information and educational workshops to enhance employability skills 
  • Provides assistance and support to existing businesses 
  • Offers training courses such as security guard certification, surface diamond driller assistant common core, underground common core and mine rescue

  • Business planning and development 
  • Community, economic and partnership development 
  • Capacity building and training 
  • Policy development and governance 
  • Mediation and negotiation

Economic initiatives Naicatchewenin First Nation is involved with include: 
  • Partnership with Kingfisher Lake First Nation and Wunnumin Lake First Nation in Synterra Security Solutions LP, an arm of Canadian Security Mgmt, which offers trained security officers to mineral exploration projects and mine sites 
  • Partnerships with Saulteaux Consulting and Engineering (SCE), H2O2GO Water Purification & Filtration Systems, UPS Store Fort Frances and KGD Canada & Gannon Creek Trading Company (which distributes KGD cedar furniture handcrafted in Naicatchewenin) 
  • Establishment of NDC Gold Drilling, a 100% Aboriginal-owned drilling company that provides services to exploration companies 
  • Signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) contracts with exploration companies including Brett Resources/Osisko, Rainy River Resources, Mineral Mountain Resources and Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) 
  • Signed Impact Benefits Agreement (IBA) with New Gold Inc for the development and operation of the Rainy River Project (gold) projected to be in operation in late 2016
