Description & Services
Description (Service) Provides rehabilitation services and supports for infants, children and youth with physical, developmental, communication or multiple special needs 
  • Provides services through a multi-disciplinary team with a focus on helping participants to achieve their full potential 
  • Offers an assessment and individualized plan for rehabilitation depending on child's needs, parents and caregivers, and resources available in community 
  • Collaborates with others involved in child's life including but not limited to families, daycares, educational staff and health care providers 
Provides services in the following areas:
Occupational Therapy (OT) 
  • Provides suggestions and referrals for children having difficulty with self-care skills (feeding, toileting), productivity (printing, colouring) and play skills 
  • Can also provide training and education to groups upon request
Physiotherapy (PT) 
  • Provides assessment, counselling and education for children having difficulty with physical abilities and movement such as rolling, crawling, sitting, walking, climbing and jumping 
  • Determines child's level of functioning and can provide treatment plans, individual or group direct therapy, suggestions for specialized equipment, home programs for use by parents, daycare and school staff, and continuation of the plan of care by another worker under the monitoring of the therapist
Speech-Language Pathology 
  • Works in partnership with caregivers, physicians, educators, and health care providers to prevent, identify and treat speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders 
  • Services can be accessed through a variety of programs such as North Words, Pediatric Rehabilitation Outreach Program, Child Development Services, North West Local Health Integration Network (NWLHIN) and the Northwest Catholic District School Board
