Description (Service) Responsible for the planning and development of the Whitefeather Forest Initiative 
  • Carries out the 3 components of the Whitefeather Initiative which includes a stewardship approach, customary activities and economic development 
  • Maintains control over economic activities happening on traditional lands 
  • Strives to create major economic and employment opportunities for community members with a goal of harvesting the Whitefeather Forest 
  • Works progressively on a Land Use Strategy 
  • Seeks new livelihood opportunities in forestry, non-timber forest products (berries, fur products etc), mining and eco-cultural tourism for community members especially youth 
  • Works collaboratively with other groups including the Ont Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR) 
  • Takes a leading role in development of new commercial forestry opportunities 
  • Engages in on-going trapline boundaries discussions with bordering First Nations communities such as Poplar Hill and North Spirit Lake
