Description (Service)
  • Delivers health and related programs and services to member First Nation communities 
  • Represents and lobbies for Wabun First Nation members in all health-related issues on all levels with other Native and non-Native agencies
Administers the following programs: 
Diabetes Strategy 
  • Focuses on the well being and health education of Native people with diabetes  
  • Provides a strategy of preventative medicine and promotes self-management of diabetes
Long Term Care 
  • Focuses on home support services to enable Wabun area clients to remain in own home  
  • Provides nursing assessment, case management, foot care clinics and advocacy
National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) 
  • Provides services and supports for community members struggling with addiction issues 
  • Focuses on counselling services, support groups and treatment facilities
Also coordinates: 
  • Community Health Nursing Program 
  • NIHB-Medical Transportation Program 
  • Regional Crisis Intervention 
  • Wabun Youth Gathering
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Areas Served Beaverhouse First Nation ; Brunswick House First Nation ; Chapleau Ojibway First Nation ; Flying Post First Nation ; Matachewan First Nation ; Mattagami First Nation
Eligibility Must belong to one of the member First Nations
Application Most services are accessed on a local level at Band Office
Languages English ; Interpretive Services - Cree, Ojibway; available upon request
