Description & Services
Description (Service) Coordinates adoption procedures for both families placing children in care and families wishing to adopt
Provides the following services in the adoption process: 
  • Assists birth mother in making informed choices  
  • Offers support before and after birth of infant  
  • Completes home studies on prospective adoptive families 
  • Assists with the court application of an Adoption Order 
  • Provides support to families waiting to adopt a child and after the child joins the family 
  • Assists in locating non-identifying information with the Adoption Disclosure Register 
  • Assists with registration to the Adoption Disclosure Register which can assist with searches to contact a birth relative 
  • Offers support and assistance if a reunion is requested between biological parent and child placed into adoption
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4:30 pm
Areas Served Attawapiskat First Nation ; Fort Albany First Nation ; Kashechewan First Nation ; Moose Factory ; Moosonee ; Weenusk First Nation
  • Must be a resident of one of the member First Nation communities 
  • Services are available for Native and Non-Native clientele
