Description & Services
Description (Service) Oversees all aspects of a foster care program that provides residential care for children who cannot be cared for by their biological parents or guardians 
  • Facilitates arrangements to provide a temporary home for children who are separated from their family 
  • Retains legal responsibility for the child  
  • Provides initial orientation and ongoing training  
  • Reimburses for all expenses incurred for welfare of child including living, medical, clothing, school and extra-curricular expenses 
  • Provides access to a full range of therapeutic and relief services  
  • Works with foster parents to create life plan for child; priority is to reunite child with family but if not possible, plans may include long-term foster care or adoption
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4:30 pm
Areas Served Attawapiskat First Nation ; Fort Albany First Nation ; Kashechewan First Nation ; Moose Factory ; Moosonee ; Weenusk First Nation
  • Must be a resident of one of the member First Nations 
  • Services are available for Native and Non-Native clientele 
  • Various eligibility criteria must be met to become a foster family or parent
