Description (Service) Represents the community in lands and resources initiatives  
  • Liaises with all companies undertaking resource development in traditional Serpent River First Nation (SRFN) territory including mining developments, forestry projects and hydro electric power projects  
  • Participates in negotiations and agreements with resource developers to ensure SRFN is fairly included in benefits  
  • Consults with target groups who have an interest in land and resource issues such as mining  
  • Develops and implements a consultation protocol for negotiations related to Lands and Resource issues  
  • Advises community members on Lands and Resource issues via meetings, website or correspondence 
  • Works to develop the Land Code for SRFN which will enable the community to take over management and administration of the Reserve Lands from Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC); projected final vote on Land Code and Individual Agreement is spring 2018 
  • Advises community members on progress of Land Code and Individual Agreement via website and community meetings
