Description (Service) Helps people affected by emergencies and disasters in situations ranging from a house fire to a flood 
  • Accepts financial donations that are used to assist in local, provincial, and international disasters and emergencies  
  • Responds to requests from Fire Department for assistance up to 72 hours for family disasters such as house fires  
  • Works in collaboration with local authorities and other agencies to address the immediate needs of individuals affected  
  • Provides various online resources on emergency preparedness  
  • Trains volunteers to respond to emergencies and disasters locally 
  • Offers personal preparedness training to individuals

Eligibility Anyone displaced from their home by a disaster
  • No application process  
  • Authorities such as Fire Department, VCARS (Victim Crisis Assistance and Referral Service) will usually call in for services, but individuals can contact directly if necessary
